I’m a photographer living in the middle of a cornfield (central Illinois), momma of three teenage kiddos (plus a cat & dog) and an educator for all things photography business. Favorites: Earl Grey Tea (not coffee!), anything orange and clothes that are made for tall girls 😉
My Photography Business Wasn’t Always This Easy… Or Profitable
What you probably couldn’t have guessed was that before I had my dream photography business, I was a stressed, strung-out momma, trying to balance three kiddos and a career..
After years of fertility treatments, I got pregnant… with TWINS! I was working at top ad agency, putting blood, sweat, and tears into a business I didn’t even own, but that I loved.
Once I had my twins, I looked down into their beautiful hazel eyes and knew it wasn’t fair to my family or the ad agency to try to split my time between the two. So, with an MBA and loads of marketing experience in my back pocket, I left the 9-5 so that I could put my growing family first.
You can probably find me curled up on a couch in my photography studio with a cup of earl grey tea in one hand and a yellow legal pad full of notes and doodles in the other.
What really gets my brain turning is teaching photographers how to run a profitable photography business so that they can spend more time with the people they love, doing the things they love and less time worrying about how to make ends meet.
To be honest, I never dreamed that photography business and life like this was possible when I opened my first photography studio 19 years ago… And now, it blows my mind even more that I get to share my experience with so many other photographers on this podcast.
